Need Sleep…

We just had two rehearsals for the recording and I am long overdue for a good nights sleep but I wanted to mention how thrilled I am with the band. They continue to blow me away and I am honored to have them play my music! This has truly been an amazing experience and I am really looking forward to going into the studio this weekend!

MSM Performance On YouTube!

I am very excited to announce that clips from our performance at Manhattan School of Music on March 28th 2010 are now available on YouTube! I am so greatfull to all the musicians who donated their time to be a part of this special evening. The recording sounds incredible. Also a big thank you to the recording department at MSM who did a fantastic job mixing. Click here to watch YouTube clips of the performance!

A quick side note:

Tonight at 8PM, JAZZ.FM91 will be airing an hour-long feature documentary, Rob McConnell: The Boss of the Boss Brass from JAZZ.FM91’s Canadian Jazz Documentary Series.

At 9PM, there will be an encore presentation of the Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass – One More Time, recorded at The Old Mill Inn in December 2008.

Thank You Rob

Earlier today I learned of Rob McConnell’s passing. Rob is and will always be one of my heroes. His music is what turned me on to writing for big band. I remember going to hear his Tentet with my family when I was in high school and thinking – that is what I want to do. Rob’s music is amongst the finest ever written for big band. More importantly it always brings a smile to my face.  What more can you ask for? Rob is a Canadian treasure and will continue to live on through his music.

Rob, Thanks for the inspiration.
